Conquistador in Baja Planting Flowers, But Sowing Death By Christine Van Camp Zecca Medium: Acrylic on Canvas 66” by 66” Early Pattern Period My father had a ranch in northern Baja past Tecate. It was a dry dusty place devoid of flowers, but with a stark beauty all its own. I’m sure the conquistadors could not see this, but brought their idea of what is beautiful. Still I would dream of water and all the life it brought to the earth when I was there. Moister realities emerging behind the desolate ones. |
